Website Design for Fitness Studios in Hong Kong: What Gets Clients to Book

Hong Kong is a tough market for gyms and boutique studios. Rents are high, clients are busy, and there's another studio a few MTR stops away. Your website has a few seconds to convince someone to book a first class. Here's what we look for when we build sites for studios and trainers here.

Design for phones first

In September 2026, about 60% of web traffic in Hong Kong came from phones, compared with 49% in the US (StatCounter). Most future clients will see your site on a phone, probably between meetings or on the MTR. Check every page on a phone first: big buttons, short paragraphs, and a booking button within easy reach of a thumb.

Add a WhatsApp button

WhatsApp is part of daily life here. In the Digital 2025 report, 70.6% of Hong Kong internet users aged 16 and over said they use it (Meltwater). Many people would rather send a quick message than fill in a form. A click-to-chat link (wa.me/ followed by your number with the 852 country code) opens a chat with you in one tap. Put it next to your booking button, not instead of it.

Decide on English, Chinese or both

Look at who actually books with you. If most of your clients speak English, a clean English site works, but include your Chinese name and address so local clients can find you. If you serve both groups, give each language its own pages with a clear switch in the menu, rather than mixing both languages on every page.

Make your studio easy to find

Hong Kong addresses can be hard to find on foot. Go beyond the street address:

  • The nearest MTR station and exit

  • The building name, floor and unit, and which lift to take if it's confusing

  • An embedded Google Map

  • A photo of the entrance

Show prices in HKD, with an intro offer

Clients compare studios quickly. Show your trial class or intro pack first, then class packs and memberships, all in HKD. If you're also on ClassPass, tell clients what they get by booking with you directly.

Put your live schedule on the site

If you run on Mindbody or a similar platform, embed your live schedule so clients can book without leaving your site. Our guide to adding Mindbody to Squarespace explains how.

Set up your Google Business Profile

When someone searches "pilates Wan Chai" or "gym near me", the map results come from Google Business Profiles. Google says local ranking depends on relevance, distance and prominence, and recommends verifying your business, keeping your details and hours complete, adding photos and replying to reviews (Google). Use the same name, address and phone number on your profile and your website.

Use real photos of your space

Stock photos of studios in other countries make you look like everyone else. Use photos of your own room, equipment, coaches and classes. People want to know what it feels like to walk in.
