How Much Does a Website Cost for a Wellness Practitioner in 2026?
If you teach yoga, run a Pilates studio, do massage or coach clients one to one, a website can cost almost nothing or several thousand dollars. Here's what each option costs in 2026, what you get for the money, and how to work out what you actually need.
The short answer
Build it yourself: $228 to $348 a year for Squarespace's Basic or Core plan on annual billing, plus your time.
Hire a freelancer: usually $1,000 to $5,000 for the build.
Hire an agency: usually $2,000 to $9,000 or more.
On top of the build, most practitioners also pay for a booking tool, a domain and sometimes a monthly care plan. Here's how each option works.
Option 1: Build it yourself
Website builders like Squarespace make it possible to build a good-looking site on your own. Squarespace's plans run from $19 a month (Basic) to $99 a month (Advanced) when billed annually, or $25 to $139 billed monthly, according to its pricing page.
Two things to know before you pick a plan:
Your booking tool may need a higher plan. Most booking tools give you a piece of code to embed your schedule. Squarespace only allows JavaScript in code blocks on the Core plan and above, so the cheapest plan may not be enough (Squarespace help).
The real cost is your time. Writing the copy, choosing photos and getting the booking flow right usually takes longer than people expect.
Best for: you're just starting out, you enjoy this kind of work, and you have a few free weekends.
Option 2: Hire a freelancer
Freelance designers usually charge $1,000 to $5,000 to build a small business site (MyPTWebsite). Upwork figures quoted by The Passive Practice put design for a 5 to 10 page business site at $1,500 to $5,000 (The Passive Practice).
Prices vary because the work varies. Some freelancers only design, and you write every word and set up booking yourself. Others handle the copy, the booking integration and the Google basics. Always ask what's included.
Best for: you want a professional site and you're happy to manage the project.
Option 3: Hire an agency
General web agencies usually charge $2,000 to $9,000 or more to design and build a site, often with $100 to $300 a month for maintenance and support (MyPTWebsite). You get a team and a process, but for a solo practitioner that's often more than you need.
Best for: larger studios with several locations, an online store or a big content library.
The ongoing costs people forget
Website plan: $19 to $99 a month on Squarespace, billed annually.
Booking software: simple tools start at around $10 a month, and full studio software costs more.
Payment fees: card processing usually takes 2 to 3% of each payment.
Email marketing: plans commonly start at around $13 a month.
Domain renewal: renewals can cost 2 to 3 times the first-year price.
Updates: either your time or a monthly care plan.

What you actually need
Most wellness practitioners don't need a big site. They need one that answers a new client's questions and makes booking easy:
A first line that says who you help and where, or that you work online.
Your services and prices, clearly listed.
A booking button that's easy to find on a phone. In September 2026, 49% of US web traffic came from phones (StatCounter).
A short story about you and a real photo.
Reviews from real clients.
The Google basics: a clear title and description for each page, and a Google Business Profile if you see clients in person.
Five pages is usually enough: Home, About, Services and Prices, Book, and Contact.
Questions to ask before you hire anyone
Who writes the words on the site?
Will my booking tool be built into the site, or will clients be sent somewhere else?
Can I make simple changes myself after launch?
What will I pay each month once the site is live?
Who owns the domain and the website account?
